New Storytelling Format Is Coming

Status of Time Threads second book

Gosh, it’s June already and I’m still editing Splintered Time. I am sorry this is taking so long, but the time travel novel is complex and I don’t want to miss anything or make it too confusing for all you guys to follow. I still plan to get it out in the next month or so.

Introducing a new reading format

The latest trick from Amazon is a treat called Vella. I’m not sure when the exact start date for this new format is, but I thought I initially saw July. Since then, the terminology has changed to a few months. But I am working on a sci-fi fantasy story for it. The concept is to publish the story, episode by episode.  Readers can download the episodes to their phones or tablets or read them on their computers. The Vella Store will be a separate area on Amazon.

Initially, the first three episodes are free to read, then you begin paying tokens for each episode after that. The ratio is 1 token per 100 words in the episode. So, if an episode is 2500 words, it will cost 25 tokens to read it. Tokens are sold beginning at 200 for $1.99. The more you buy, the more extra ones you get. For instance, $14.99 buys 1700 tokens. The idea is the offer episodic fiction to people to read on their phones or tablets on their way to work or while waiting for someone.

With this in mind, I’m rewriting and adapting a story, currently called “Cynara’s Destiny” (that may change), for this new format. I’m really excited about the format and the adventure I’m writing for it.  I’m hoping you’ll be enthused about the possibilities and the tale I’m spinning.

Waiting in the wings…

Overdue, but in the works, Outer Rim is the second book of the O’Ceagan Saga. The first draft is almost done, and it will go into editing after I finish Splintered Time. For now, I’m targeting a Spring 2022 release.

We’ll be following Grania O’Ceagan and her brothers on an adventure that takes them back to Earth, then on to the farthest reaches of the galaxy.

Next on the finish the draft list is Gatekeeper, the first book of my Connected Worlds series.  More about this series later, but I am hoping to get the draft completed by the end of this year. It’s about one-third done now.

That’s all I have this month, but I hope to finally get on a more consistent schedule of updating my blog and newsletter once a month.

Hope you’re almost summer days are going well and see you next month.

February Give Away is Winding Up

Hi, everyone…

Once again, I have lapsed in keeping up with my blog. I’ve been busy over the past few months but I can’t point to much and say that was what I did! But I did do NaNoWriMo in November and got in close to 80k words, but haven’t quite finished the book. I am working on the sequel novel to O’Ceagan’s Legacy. I looked at my publish date and realized five years have passed since I wrote it. It’s past time that I should get the next book out! So, that’s was the November project.

This one is called Outer Rim and carries Grania O’Ceagan and her brothers to the very edge of the solar system with a special delivery for a rebellious group there. I’m excited to get this book done and out there, but first things first…

I am also working on the sequel to Time Walker, which is Splintered Time. I’m running it through my critique group. which is a time-consuming project, but worth it for the comments I get back from everyone. In the long run, it will be a much-better novel than I had after the first three rounds of edits. I am still hoping to get that book out at the end of Spring or possibly early Summer. What was I thinking when I decided to write a time-travel novel?

I have a couple of short stories I was playing with for a writing contest, so I want to polish those up a little, then I’ll post them for you all to take a look and comment. Short stories aren’t my strength, so I am trying to improve on them.

Book Giveaway!

I’ve had the first book of my Funeral Singer series up for a free download on a giveaway at Prolific Works. A Song for Marielle introduces you to Gillian Foster, a struggling musician, who receives an unexpected paranormal gift. She can interact with the recently deceased in an ethereal graveyard where her task appears to be to help them find their way to the pearly gates. Except sometimes, the spirits refuse to go until something is resolved from their lives…like maybe finding a killer?

If you haven’t read this paranormal thriller yet, here’s your chance to download a free copy. Simply go to this link and select my book and/or one of eleven others that are available to download. Of course, we’d love to have an honest review when you finish you or you can write me directly with your views at Lily@LillianWolfe.me. I’d love to hear from you!

By the way, if you’re looking for a fun, fast-moving new series, written by a gal I consider one of the best urban fantasy writers around, then check out the Guild Codex series by Annette Marie. You won’t be able to put it down. The stories interweave between the Spellbound and Demonized sub-series that will keep you entertained. Start with Spellbound: Three Mages and a Margarita and follow the author’s recommended reading order. I highly endorse them.

Thanks for reading. Until next time, stay healthy and stay safe.

It’s been how long?

Wow! I can’t believe I haven’t made an update in almost six months! While I don’t update frequently, I try to do it more often than this. I hope all of you are staying well during this pandemic. While I am a stay-at-home writer, I have not been as productive as I’d hoped to be during this time.

With smoke blowing in from the California fires, it’s tough to wrap my mind around creative writing or any writing, for that matter. My book that I had planned to release in May or June, it is now delayed until 2021. I’ve gone through three edits on it, but I’m giving it one more pass with my critique partners before I publish, so that is taking time. But I would rather put out a better book than rush it.

So, Splintered Time, the second book in the Time Threads series, is now scheduled for release in the first quarter of 2021. But I do have a gorgeous cover for it, done by the wonderfully talented Barb Hoeter at Coverinked. So, if you haven’t been on my Facebook page and seen it already, that’s it on the right side. I am so thrilled with this cover and I hope you love it as much as I do.

Book Giveaways

Once again, I have two books in two separate giveaways on Prolific Works. They are both previews with about one-third of the books in the download and a sale on through September to purchase the books at 50% off, if you want to read the whole book.  Over 40 books are in the Sci-Fi and Fantasy Giveaway while about 30 are in the Heroes, Romance, and Time Travel one. Check out both of them to possibly find some new writers to read.

November’s Nano Project

NaNoWriMo is coming up in November – after doing July’s Camp – and I have my project picked out for it. Incredibly it’s been four years since I released O’Ceagan’s Legacy and the second book is long past due, so I’ve been working on the plot for that and plan to write it in November with an eye to releasing it in toward the end of August 2021. I have a cover picked out that is similar to the original novel and I’ll be posting that about the time I begin writing the book. I love having the cover when I write since I make it the background on my computer screen , and it inspires me throughout the writing.

Editing is at the top of my list for April

I hope all of you are doing well and staying healthy during this difficult time for all of us. Please take extra care and avoid any close contact with anyone.

Highlander alum (l to r) David Abramowitz, Peter Wingfield, and David Abramowitz. (My camera was not up to taking high quality photos in this setting.)

I popped into Los Angeles at the beginning of this month for a convention with the Peter Wingfield Fan Club. Peter used to be an actor on Highlander the Series where he played Methos. He’s since become a doctor and is currently on a fellowship in Los Angeles. It was great to see everyone in the fan club again and to catch up with Peter and Jim Byrnes (Joe Dawson in the series) as well as the show runner for  the series, David Abramowitz. We were just starting to hear about COVID-19, which has dominated our lives every since, so we felt lucky to have managed to sneak in a get together of over fifty people and get away unscathed.

Editing Begins in Earnest

Yeah, I am behind in my schedule for the sequel to Time Walker. The book is basically written, but I am just getting started in the editing process. April is Camp Nano, one of the two lesser events sponsored by the NaNoWriMo people. While I had originally intended to write a new novel, I’ve decided to devote the entire month to getting Splintered Time edited and ready for my beta readers.

Speaking of beta readers, I am looking for a few more willing folks to read and comment on the beta copy of the book. I need the feedback from readers to make the book the best I can and to help me look for weak points and plot holes. So it’s a really important job. If you’d like to give it a try, please email at lily@lillianwolfe.me and I’ll add you to the list. The only things I ask are that you read it within one month and give me honest notes.

Sale on the Funeral Singer series!

All five e-books of my Funeral Singer series are now available for 99-cents each at all book outlets – Kindle, Nook, Kobo, and Apple – through April 4th. If you go here you’ll find a link to the first book (A Song for Marielle) at each of the available sellers. This series is complete.

Until next time when I hope I can tell you that Splintered Time is edited and out to beta readers, I am signing off. I wish you well. Escape into fantasy or a distant world. Read a book to pass the time while you’re stuck at home.

Book Update and Another Group Giveaway

Wow! Things have been busy the past couple of months, but unfortunately, the activity hasn’t included working on my sequel to Time Walker. That is still staring me in the face and saying that spring release is getting closer and closer. I’m still hoping to get it done by the end of Spring, right around June. The book is written, but it needs some heavy-duty editing and I’m trying to get it done.

While the weather in Reno has been pretty nice during the day, the nights have been cold, and our furnace died two days ago. Looking for someone to either repair or replace it. I suspect the latter will be the result.

And I have been working on putting together a small convention that will be happening next week in Los Angeles. Once that is done, I think I can settle down to work on Splintered Time, which is the sequel book.

Sci-Fi Giveaway

In the meantime, I put O’Ceagan’s Legacy out into a group giveaway of science fiction and fantasy books. If you’re looking for some new reading, maybe discovering a new author or two, then check it out. Just click on the image below to go to the giveaway page on Prolific Works.  This promotion is running through March 4th. My book is a several chapter sample of the novel. Now through the end of the giveaway, it is for sale at half the price in e-book at $1.99.

Book Sniffer App

You might have seen an ad for this new app posted on Facebook, which is where I found it. It sounds like a pretty good deal for both writers and readers, so you might want to check it out.

I’ve  added my name to the Book Sniffer family, a great new way to keep up with your favorite authors (once they register on the site) and to find new books and authors.

To add me to your authors, just use this link:  android.bksnfr.me/Lillian_I._Wolfe

That’s all for this update.  Hope everyone is having a safe winter and not getting too blasted by the weather. Stay warm. Stay safe.
