New Edition of “O’Ceagan’s Legacy” Cover Reveal

Hello, Folks,

I know I haven’t posted in a month of Sundays and maybe longer.  Life has been busy with various projects. One of them was revising “O’Ceagan’s Legacy.” It’s been 10 years since I first wrote the book, even though it didn’t publish until 2016, so technically next year is the 10 -year anniversary, Still, I wanted to revise the book and give it a fresh look with a new cover.

So, today is the cover reveal day! Here’s the intriguing new cover for this adventurous and exciting story of Grania O’Ceagan and her brothers on the space freighter Mo Chroidhe.  That’s Irish for “my heart.”

An ancient banshee in space—  Can Grania navigate the stars and spirits?

Captain Grania O’Ceagan and her crew are no strangers to peril, but when a routine cargo run turns into a nightmare, even they aren’t prepared for what awaits. A malfunctioning jump gate leaves them adrift, while a ghostly manifestation—identified as a banshee—offers cryptic warnings of danger ahead. As ancient myths resurface and unseen forces close in, Grania must rely on her wits, her crew, and the wisdom of her ancestors to survive a journey that could reshape her destiny forever.

The revised version of O’Ceagan’s Legacy releases on February 26th. It’s available for pre-order now at just 99-cents! Every sale and review will help me launch this book into the stratosphere. It will also be available on Kindle Unlimited.

Teaser Excerpt

Here’s a short teaser from the book:

Just then Nansi came onto the bridge, her eyes locked straight on the monitor screens. “Well, this is shite, isn’t it? Liam has an engine down, and it looks like we’re off the map completely.”

“Yep,” Grania agreed. “Have you ever seen anything like this?”

“Seen it? No. If it is what I’m thinking it is, then I’ve heard tales and it’s not good.”

Grania stepped close and lowered her voice. She didn’t want to alarm her brothers until she knew more about the situation and their options. “Tell me quietly.”

“The stories say there are areas in space that are just empty –“

“Black holes?” Grania asked in a low breath, fearful of the answer.

“No, not that. But stretches of space where there are no stars, no planets, just nothing. They’re difficult to navigate and com signals don’t penetrate through them.”

“And that’s where you think we are? In one of these empty spaces?”

“Aye, that I do. The Sea of Darkness, it’s called by the old storytellers.”

“So, tell me, what is the bad news then?”

“Well, the storytellers say that once something goes into the sea, it doesn’t come out again.” Nansi’s voice rasped with strain as she whispered this.

“Nonsense! If nothing ever came out, then how would anyone know anything about it? If that is what this is, there is a way out and we will find it. I will not lose my granda’s ship in this Black Sea.” Grania’s heart sank a little, although she would not show it to her crew. They would figure this out, and they would get back on track to home.

Nansi just nodded, a hint of hope showing in her eyes. For all her second’s years as a spacer, Grania knew the old tales still frightened her. Although fearful herself, as captain, she had to show strength and confidence, not only for Nansi but for the rest of the crew as well.

Vilnius strode in, came to a halt, and gazed around the bridge, his eyes locking on the forward screen before slowly shifting to each of the other ones. Those big black, empty-looking images of nothing were an immediate draw, she admitted. Only she had entered the bridge without looking at them. What did that say about her?

“Are the screens down?” Vilnius asked.

My book launch page will be active on March 29, 2016.  You will find it this link after midnight PDT.

The paperback copy of the book will be coming in about a week.  It takes a little longer to process through CreateSpace and then to Amazon before it will be on Amazon’s sales pages.

Please Review

Last 2 Day to Nominate My Book!

Legacy_postcard4-edit

First off, a big thank you to everyone who has already gone out to the Kindle Scout website and nominated “O’Ceagan’s Legacy” to be considered for a publishing contract.  I really appreciate it.  Unlike some of these “vote for me” things, you can only nominate once so if you’ve already done it, hurrah!  It means a lot to me.

If you haven’t yet nominated my book and would like to give me an assist toward publishing it, then please go to O’Ceagan’s Legacy and nominate my book.  You can read the first three chapters if you like.  If it is selected for publication, then you will receive a free Kindle download of the book.  But you need to do it before midnight on March 11.  This ends at 12:01 am on March 12!  So do it now while you’re thinking about.

Even if it is not selected by Amazon, I will still be publishing it on Kindle and I will have a free download day, which I’ll tell you about when it’s time, so that everyone who did vote for me (and some others) will have a chance to download it.

I need your help to have success with my new book, O’Ceagan’s Legacy! I am hoping to get enough nominations on Kindle Scout to get the opportunity to have it published through Amazon. What this means to me is possibly a publishing contract and promotion through Amazon rather than an independent writer publishing through the usual stream of self-published authors via my small publishing company, Pynhavyn. I will publish that way if this doesn’t work out for me, but I would sure love to be with a bigger house.

How can you help? Simple. If you haven’t yet nominated my book, simply go to:

https://kindlescout.amazon.com/p/14BNE1O3WUOM1

Look at the information on my book and read the first three chapters if you’d like, then click on the Nominate button. If you aren’t logged in to your Amazon account, it will ask for your email address. Enter that and you’ve nominated me.

Here’s the bonus: If my book is selected for publication, you will receive a Kindle copy free from Amazon when it’s released as a thank you for scouting the book.

I was on the hot list for over a day, but I need more votes to continue to hit that list. You can nominate from now until March 12. Getting a publishing contract would be an awesome birthday present for me!

You can do three nominations over the month, so while you’re at it, check out the details for some other books that you might like and help another author out. One that is out there now is a Young Adult by Shaunta Grimes, the author of Viral Nation called Wasted. Shaunta is a great author, so check it out.

“O’Ceagan’s Legacy” on Kindle Scout NOW!

Grania’s first time as captain of her family’s interstellar freighter plunges her ship and crew into dangerous space.

My Kindle Scout page for O’CEAGAN’S LEGACY is live now! To read about my new book, read the first three chapters, and VOTE for the book, just click on the book’s title, which is highlighted above.

The Scout program allows readers to preview an unpublished novel and vote whether they would like to read the rest of the book or not. If enough people vote for it, then Scout will review the book and consider an Amazon publishing agreement.

I I am successful, this means that the author will be published through Amazon. The readers will get a free Kindle copy of the book if they voted for it. So it’s a win-win; I get the book published with Amazon promotion behind it and you get a free copy of the book.

“O’Ceagan’s Legacy” is the first book in the “O’Ceagan Saga”, which is a planned series about a family of Irish-heritage spacers from Erinnua or New Ireland who have a family-owned and crewed cargo ship called Mo Croidhe (My Heart, in Gaelic). It’s a story I’ve thought about writing for several years and it all came together in the past year and a half.

My Scout page has a little information on the book, but the length of the entry was limited, so here is the full teaser for it:

A bain sidhe’s calling is to warn family members about impending death. For Sheilan, it’s complicated when her last charge in Ireland dies and the rest of the family are now across the galaxy. If she is to have any purpose for existence, she must cross the stars to them.

The routine run from Erinnua to Earth is Grania O’Ceagan’s first time acting as captain of the family’s space freighter. Delays at the station allow her to shepherd her youngest brother to the family seat in Wicklow and to acquire an unusual passenger at London Spaceport. Meanwhile, her middle brother Rory books a merchant with cargo who’s willing to pay handsomely for the ride.

Once underway, Grania’s easy trip home transforms into a nightmare as unexpected perils threaten the integrity of the ship and thrust them into deadly circumstances that test the mettle of Grania and her crew. Can they save the ship and their lives?

In case you didn’t catch it, the story does involve a bain sidhe or banshee in more modern terms. Drawing a little on Celtic legends and myths, this story is a fun ride from start to finish. As one of my beta readers, Nancy Sorbets, put it;

“The Rolling Stones with Space Banshees and a healthy dose of cozy mystery stirred in, done up in a style reminiscent of Mercedes Lackey! I look forward to watching this world unfold.”

Please check out my Scout page for “O’Ceagan’s Legacy” and vote for my book. I would be ever so grateful for your support. You have from now until midnight Eastern time on March 12th to read and vote, but do it early, please.  Thank you!
